Description | Rix notes Foster's instructions regarding summoning the Council. He states that the October Council is usually held at 2.30pm, as indeed it was the previous year, with the Soirée committee at 5.30pm. As this year's Council meeting will be at 4pm, the earliest possible time for the Dinner committee will be 6.30pm. Rix asks whether they should repeat last year, when the whole Soirée committee was summoned and they revised the list of institutions and appointed a Dinner sub-committee, which duplicated the membership of the Soirée sub-committee.
Rix has many printed dinner lists of which he encloses one [not included], and a small stock of cards, one of which he encloses with suggested alterations [not included], both of which should go before the committee.
Rix has been informed by the Treasurer, John Evans, that the dates for Council of 24 October and 1 November were deliberately chosen at the last Council because of the lateness of the last Thursday in October and because Evans could not be present on 7 November. Evans now states that he could attend on 31 October. The President, George Gabriel Stokes, has given Rix instructions as to marking the "Procedure...Medals" circular.
He sends the main agenda items [not included], with a mark next to those intended to go on the card, and asks if Foster approves. Rix further notes that the Foreign Members must be taken on 24 if they are to be done by this Council. He will sent the summonses out on Thursday. |
