| Description | Rix expresses dissatisfaction with their recent rebinding of the Royal Society's antique books, noting that the work appears to have been done by 'one of your ordinary hands' and so is imperfect or clumsy, rather than having been undertaken with a level of care befitting their rarity. Rix also objects to the coat of arms having been placed sideways on volumes intended for a showcase, and would have preferred that a new die had been made, or that they had been omitted altogether.
If any of their people call at the Society, the defects in repairs and rebacking can be pointed out. In future, Rix asks that more care be taken to follow the careful orders for the small lots of antique books sent to them by the Society. |
