| Description | Foster explains that Professor John Scott Burdon Sanderson, a Fellow of the Royal Society, who has been conducting research on the 'electrical phenomena of Fishes' is travelling to Egypt to make arrangements for the transmission to England, alive and in good condition, specimens of the electric fish of the Nile - Malapterurus.
Rix understands that the fish can be obtained alive, and that Sanderson has been in communication with the Peninsular & Oriental Steam Navigation Company's agent at Suez, Captain Roberts, concerning transport by their steam service. He is directed to assure them of the scientific merit of the research, and express the hope that they will give directions to Roberts which will assist in the transport of the fish from Egypt, whilst being consistent with the regulation of their own service. |
