TitleCopy letter from Alfred Bray Kempe, to E Bernacchi
Date14 April 1905
DescriptionBrought the question of the reduction of the magnetic work of the 'Discovery' before the Council of the Royal Society yesterday and read the correspondence about the matter. Council approved the action of the Officers of the Society as expressed in Kempe's letter to Dr [Richard Tetley] Glazebrook of 21 March. Thinks Bernacchi must take it that the letter expresses the view of the Council and in consequence the offer in the letter of Dr Glazebrook to Bernacchi of 1 March must be regarded as approved by them. If as Kempe fears, Bernacchi does not see his way to accept the offer, it will be necessary for Glazebrook to make other arrangements regarding the reductions. The Officers would much regret if Glazebrook were deprived of Bernacchi's assistance.
