Encloses a copy of Professor [Joseph] Larmor's report on Dr Bastian's paper on the 'Free Growth of Bacteria and some Torulae in a solution of Neutral Ammonic Tartrate, etc.'. Asks Ward to minute his opinion as to the action to be taken with regard to the paper in view of the report.

Encloses copies of the three referee's reports on Mr E S Salmon's paper, 'Endophytic Adaptation shown by Erysiphe Graminis DC. under Cultural conditions'. Asks if in view of the favourable nature of two of these, Ward is willing to print the paper in the 'Philosophical Transactions [of the Royal Society]' under Standing Order 43.

Encloses a copy of Professor Vines' report on the paper by Messrs A D Hall and Y H J Miller on the 'Effect of Plant Growth etc.'. In view of Vines' statement that he does not feel competent to express a decisive opinion as to publication in the 'Transactions', asks if the Chairman will nominate a third referee.
