| Description | Thanks Lankester for his note, and hopes Lankester will soon be out of the surgeons hands. Will ask [David] Bruce to be the Chairman of the meeting summoned next Thursday.
Briefly discusses professor Minchin's claim for subsistence allowance from the Uganda authorities of which he can find no documents and thinks Minchin spoke to Bruce who did receive such an allowance. Minchin's application has been received at the Colonial Office, from which the Society received a letter yesterday asking for the terms of his appointment. Geikie replied with a copy of the memorandum of conditions which Minchin signed. Bruce has also been asked for his opinion in the matter and has replied that such an allowance might very properly be given to Minchin.
One of the topics the Thursday Committee will consider is a suggestion of Bruce's that on his way back from South Africa he should go to Entebbe and look into matters and clear up the difficulty regarding the laboratory, as well as stopping at Malta where an important discovery has been made; that healthy goats have abundant M. meliteusis in their urine, blood and milk. The Society has had papers from Zammit and Horrocks on the subject, which will go into the next Malta Fever Report. |
