| Description | Regarding the publication by the Royal Society of the results of the magnetic survey of South Africa, it seems most convenient that the sum of £600 contributed by the South African government should be paid into the banking account of the Society with Messrs Robarts Lubbock & Company. When the work is done the Society would furnish vouchers for expenditure and return the balance remaining. The Society made it a condition that the plan and scope of the work should obtain the approval of their Physics and Chemistry Committee. To this end it would probably suffice if Beattie could send such a statement as could be printed as an introduction to the volume, together with some sample data in the form he would like it to appear. These could be set up in type and specimens sent to Beattie and the Society's Committee for consideration. Takes it that the published British and other surveys have models at hand for the arrangement of the material. |
