TitleCopy letter from Archibald Geikie, to Arthur Schuster, [Fellow of the Royal Society]
Date6 March 1906
DescriptionGeikie reports that he met with Dr [Auguste Cochon] de Lapparent in Paris, but that it was a brief interview as Lapparent had been upset by an accident which happened to his mother-in-law and the prospect of a journey to the south of France with his unwell daughter. He shares the letter received from Lapparent prior to their meeting in Paris, which suggests it is certain that France will not join the International Seismic organisation. He suspects their experience at Algeciras made the difference. He does not know what the United States plans to do. He suspects their Treasury will be happy to let the matter drop.

He asks that Schuster return the letter from De Lapparent's letter.
