TitleCopy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison, to Professor Edwin Ray Lankester, Fellow of the Royal Society
Date22 May 1906
DescriptionHarrison responds to Lankester by sending a copy of the Colonial Office letter of 26 February, concerning the expenses charged by the Uganda Government. He cannot, under Royal Society statute, forward the accounts sent by the Uganda Government as they are originals, but he can facilitate access to them at the Society. He reports they are very long and consist of details of small amounts in rupees with various official vouchers. They consist entirely of charges for subsistence and private servants' allowances to Professor Minchin and his assistant, charges for freight of specimens and effects, and furniture supplied to Minchin, aggregating into three totals - £130, nine shillings and nine pence, £190 and 19 shillings, and £107, 17 shillings and four pence. Minchin has confirmed the charges were incurred, but has not considered how to pay them.

As the draft letter Harrison sent has not been altered, he presumes that he may circulate it for the consideration of the Committee.
