DescriptionBefore the manuscript of Gifford's paper 'On the Refractive Indices of Water and of Sea-water', is sent to the printers Gofford's attention is drawn to the enclosed remarks by a referee. Quotes the referee who thinks that the refractive indices should not be carried beyond six figures. Explains the possible cause of the error mentioned in the note to page five. The diagram should also be drawn so that it can be reproduced on a small scale. Encloses Gifford's manuscript for him to make such alterations as may appear desirable in light of these remarks.
