TitleCopy letter from F A Towle, to Sir Archibald Geikie, Secretary, Royal Society
Date3 August 1907
DescriptionThe Sleeping Sickness Committee met the previous day but did not come to any practical conclusion. Dr Hodge's communicated that the Entebbe Laboratory appears absolutely of no use for Sleeping Sickness investigation as it is now outside the Sleeping Sickness area. Colonel Bruce was not aware of this when the full committee met on 24 June and nor was Dr Bradford. Having decided to treat Hodge's communication as confidential the committee have drawn up a scheme of work as asked for by the Commissioner of Uganda and decided to leave it to the Commissioner to find out if this scheme if workable at the laboratory, more especially as the authorities out there decided on the present site. The scheme will be sent to Geikie and the members of the full Committee in the form of a letter to the Colonial Office for approval. There was some discussion at the Committee of ascertaining whether Dr Thomson of the Lister Institute or Dr Todd of Liverpool would be willing to go to Uganda to continue work on Sleeping Sickness.
