TitleCopy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison to Major P [Percy Alexander] MacMahon, Fellow of the Royal Society
Date6 April 1908
Description'Dear Major MacMahon,
In reply to your note of April 4, I find that James Six was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society on January 19, 1792. His certificate was signed by Neville Maskelyne, Francis Wollaston, Alexander Aubert, J Smeaton and Samuel F Simmons, and describes him as "a gentlemen well know to the Royal Society for the contrivance of a thermometer which shows the greatest degree of heat and cold in the absence of the observer, and for some communications on local heat, which have been published in the Philosophical Transactions".'
