DescriptionWith reference to the subject of the loan from the Russian Government of a two and a half metre standard and accompanying apparatus for the purpose of the measurement of the Zambesi Tanganyika arc of the 30th meridian. Harrison inform the Secretary that the Royal Society has received a letter from the Chief of the Topographic Section of the Etat-Major, St Petersburg, stating that the standard with was returned by the British South Africa Company has arrived badly damaged.
Harrison asks for the following information:
(1) The exact date if their despatch to Russia.
(2) The agency by which they were sent.
(3) If and when any acknowledgement of their arrival was received.
