DescriptionHarrison acknowledges receipt of Artamonoff's letter relating to the two and a half metre standards which his department lent for the purpose of the measurement of an arc of meridian in Africa. Harrison expresses extreme regret with which the Royal Society learns of the damaged condition in which the apparatus has arrived in St Petersburg, and assures Artamonoff that enquires have been made and that further communication will be sent.
