Description'Dear Sir,
In reply to your letter of April 27th, the second abstract for which you have been asked is required for use at the meeting at which your paper is to be read. The abstract by you with the full paper has been approved by the secretaries for publication in the 'Proceedings' [of the Royal Society], but is too long for meeting purposes. I shall therefore be much obliged if you will let me have a shorted summary, not exceeding about 300 words in length, for the use of Fellows at the meeting, and for inclusion in the Report of the meeting.'
