Date29 June 1909
Description'Dear Sir,
I find that the flagstaff on this building will have to be renewed, having become so rotten in places that it is hardly safe. As flagstaffs were not contemplated when the requisition book for services from your Department was drawn up, I am in some doubt whether I should call upon you to make this renewal; but as it is an external fitting to the structure I presume I should apply to you to renew it. In any case I should be much obliged by your letting me know what you regard as the proper height for a flagstaff for this building.'
