DescriptionProfessor Delage, Director of the Zoological Station at Roscoff in Britanny, has written to President and Council calling attention to the recent enlargement and improvement of the Station in which 25 new laboratories have been established. The University of Paris is offering these laboratories to various states for their nationals at a rent of 1500 francs per annum. Several countries have already availed themselves of this opportunity, and President and Council think the work done at the laboratories is of greatest value to biological science, but the Royal Society does not have the funds to participate in the offer.

Delage also asks for a complete set of Challenger Reports, which has been unanimously granted by the Challenger Committee. It would appear that a complete set was sent to Roscoff in 1895, but they were never placed there, owing to a lack of any proper accommodation.

The Challenger Committee also considered an application from the Commonwealth Parliamentary Library of Australia, forwarded through HM Secretary of State for the Colonies, and enclosed in a letter from Sir George Murray dated 6 September. The Committee were not unanimous, and before recommending a complete set, would like to be satisfied to the extent the reports would be available to active workers in the sciences dealt with in the Challenger Expedition.
