TitleCopy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison to The Deputy Warden of the Standards, Board of Trade (Standards Department), Old Palace Yard, Westminster, SW
Date11 May 1910
DescriptionThe Deputy Warden's letter has been under consideration and Harrison has been instructed to reply as follows.
(1) Harrions has a standard Troy pound in platinum contained in a brass case enclosed in a wooden box labelled "Royal Society's Troy Pound".
(2) The 5ft scale described in the Deputy Warden's letter as Sir G Shuckburgh's subdivided scale is, to the best of Harrison's belief, the scale described as "Parliamentary Standard by Troughton 1796" as is deposited with four other Standards by Troughton in the Science Museum, on loan from the Royal Society [other standards are lists].

Harrison explains his reasons for identifying the one described as Parliamentary Standard 1796; with the Scale mentioned by Sir George Shuckburgh Evelyn in the Philosophical Transactions [of the Royal Society].

In the addition to the above the Royal Society had the Standard copy of the Imperial yard and pound.
