Date16 June 1910
Description'Dear Sir,
I have the pleasure to inform you that, acting under the Standing Orders of Council relating to publications, the Secretaries have marked your paper, "The relation of light perception to colour perception" as suitable for publication in the "Proceedings [of the Royal Society].
I am, however, directed to suggest that the last sentence of the Paper might with advantage be modified, in accordance with the following criticism.
"As it stands this may be taken to mean that the author regards the excitatory state in any nerve axon (impulse) as differing in character with the quality of the arousing stimulus. The is not physiological proof of this as regards nerve axon excitatory states and it does not follow from the facts brough forward in the paper."
I therefore return your MS for amendment accordingly and shall be glad to have it back as soon as possible in order that it may be set up in type without delay.'
