TitleCopy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison to Professor Benjamin W Snow, University of Wisconsin, Madison, USA
Date20 June 1910
Description'Dear Sir,
In answer to your letter of June 4, concerning reproduction of Antarctic drawings of aurrors, I am directed by the President to inform you that you are at liberty to photograph and reproduce the lithograph-plate as published in the "Album" and the "Meteorology" volume of the Antarctic Expedition, on the understanding that the usual acknowledgment is made. Your request that we should photograph the original drawing, we regret we are unable to accede to.
As to the facilities accorded to the Scientific America to reproduce, all that we did was to give permission to reproduce, as other journals had done, viz from the lithographed plates themselves. I may mention that a number of copies of the volumes in question have been presented to American Scientific Libraries, and that the chromo-lithograph is quite as bright as the original and probably better for photographing from.'
