TitleCopy letter from Joseph Larmor, to Major [Edmond Herbert Grove] Hills, [Fellow of the Royal Society]
Date16 December 1910
DescriptionRegarding Hills' letter of 10 December relating to the arrangements for observing the Solar Eclipse next year, Larmor has been directed to state that the Officers of the Royal Society observe that the grant by the Admiralty of a ship to convey the Eclipse party from Sydney to Vavau and back will cancel most of the excess £110 which is now estimated beyond the sum of £400 available for the Joint Permanent Eclipse Committee.

In view of this uncertainty they are not able to anticipate the view of the Council of the Royal Society may take, but thinks that they should consider favourably any items of expenditure beyond the £400 that may be found to be strictly necessary.
