TitleCopy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison to Messrs Elliot & Fry
Date20 April 1912
Description'With reference to the print of Lord Lister's photograph which you were good enough to send me recently and for which the Society is prepared to pay your fee for reproduction, I am desired by the President to say that it is intended to reproduce this portrait as a photogravure in the Record of the Royal Society, a new edition of which is now going through the press. For this purpose the plate paper would have to measure altogehter 1 and a quarter X 7 and a half, and the actual portrait should be an enlargement of the print you have sent me. For this purpose the negative would be course be by far the most suitable original to use, and as you would probably not care to lend it to an engraver. I am to ask whether you would undertake to make a photogravure plate, and if so, what the expense would be.'
