Description'In reply to your request for electros of blocks illustrating various paper published in the Phil[osophical] Trans[actions] and Proceedings [of the Royal Society], for a book on Colon Photometry by Sir Wm Abney: it is a necessary preliminary is obtaining permission for such electros to be supplied that the request be signed by the author desiring to use them. A formal request, signed by Sir William Abney, is all that is required.
Will you also please inform me whether all the papers on the list, from which you propose to draw your illustrations, are by Sir Wm Abney: if there are any by other authors, permission to utilize illustrations must first be obtaining from those authors.'
