TitleCopy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison, to Dr Charles Chree, Fellow of the Royal Society
Date24 July 1912
DescriptionHarrison has Chree's letter of 22 July, with the copy of Dr Simpson's letter. It has been added to the agenda of the Gassiot Committee. There was considerable difficulty in getting a date fixed for the Gassiot meeting, and he was told it was essential to secure the attendance of Professor [Arthur] Schuster and Sir Joseph Larmor, as well as Dr William Napier Shaw. There really was not time to consult Chree.

The report of the sub-committee was settled without its going through the office so there was no opportunity to send it earlier, but it should have reached him on Monday. Sending a copy of an agenda paper comprising all the business Harrison is aware of [no enclosures].

The letter from the India Office relates to a matter which is properly one for the Observatories committee, namely the appointment of an additional scientific assistant, but Larmor thought the matter mught be of interest to the Gassiot committee.
