TitleCopy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison to Dr H [Henry] S [Selby] Hele-Shaw FRS
Date15 February 1913
Description'Your suggestion that the names of the fifteen selected candidates should be notified by post to all the Fellows of the Society immediately after the selection, was discussed at a meeting of Officers on Thursday, and I am authorised at a meeting of Officers on Thursday, and I am authorised to tell you that in the opinion of the meeting such a course seems unnecessary and to entail unjustifiable trouble and expense, having regard to the facts that (1) the list of selected names is sent immediately to the scientific and ordinary press, and (2) that as soon as possible after the selection a balloting list giving the fifteen names is sent to every Fellow. If you have further reasons than those you have already given for proposing this addition notification they will of course receive every consideration.'
