Title | Copy letter from Arthur Schuster, to Dr George [Walker] Walker, Fellow of the Royal Society, 63 Lensfield Road, Cambridge |
Date | 5 June 1913 |
Description | Has considered the point raised in his letter of 3 June. It appears that it is a matter for Walker to consider where and by whom the instrument should be tested. The Royal Society naturally looks to him for a report and would no doubt like to have the results submitted to them in the first instance. If he arranges with Dr Schmidt it would be well to be quite clear as to who should publish the results obtained. But that is a matter for him, and the Royal Society can incur no responsibility in the matter and will be content if they receive from Walker a proper report on the working of the instrument.
A Magnetic Survey of the country is being attempted to be set up as quickly as possible, but there must necessarily be some little delay in the preliminary arrangements. Asks if Walker is still available for superintending the survey and whether he proposes to take a share himself in the measurements. |
