TitleCopy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison, to Professor R J Harvey Gibson, 22 Falkner Square, Liverpool
Date18 August 1913
DescriptionThe statement of Sachs, as it stands, appears misleading. The records show that Dr [Nehemiah] Grew presented copies of his published book entitled 'The Anatomy of Vegetables begun' to the Royal Society on 7 December 1671. On the same day the abstract of Malphigi's work was laid before the Society. The statement of Sachs would appear to indicate that both manuscripts were presented at the same time, but that was not the case, as Dr Grew's manuscript had already been ordered by printing by Council on 11 May 1671.
