| Description | Rix apologises for the fact that the type used by their printers is not to his liking, and notes that it would have been better if they had set up a small specimen to submit for his approval.
The type which, on page 28, Heaviside suggests should have been used throughout the paper, which is not 'Clasendon' but 'antique', cannot be used in the body of the text as it will not "range" with the other type, as the body of the text is a different size. If they were to use that sized type, some would need to be cast for the purpose, which would be expensive and cause a considerable delay in publication. As a consequence, Rix asks whether Heaviside objects strongly to the type currently used, and notes that it is what they have used before and is the usual one used for accompanying the type in which 'Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society is printed'.
A postscript notes their willingness to cast some type if Heaviside feels strongly about the matter, and that they do not object to the delay it will cause. |
