TitleCopy letter from Herbert Rix, to Messrs Clay & Sons
Date5 February 1892
DescriptionRix explains that when the stock of the 'Catalogue of Scientific Papers' was in their control, they would offer sets to Fellows of the Royal Society, and he provides a list of the prices they charged for different ranges of volumes in cloth or half morocco bindings. He is no longer clear whether these prices stand, or even whether they have a special price given to Fellows for the purchase of sets, and so he asks for them to clarify the matter.

Rix also mentions that Robert Henry Scott of the Meteorological Office, a Fellow of the Royal Society, complained that he sent a messenger to Messrs Clay & Sons with a note requesting a copy of the half morocco, 'Catalogue of Scientific Papers' volume IX at Fellows price, and that a receipt should have been given, but that the messenger was kept waiting, the receipt request refused, a cloth copy sent instead, and the volume was not wrapped despite the fact it was raining. He believes that Messrs Clay & Sons assistants' should be told to pay special attention to Fellows.
