TitleCopy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison, to H D Rolleston, 55 Upper Brook Street, W.
Date23 July 1914
DescriptionThanks him for his letter of 21 July relating to a portrait of Dr John Davy. Unfortunately the Royal Society is now in vacation and the Council, without whose authority a bequest cannot be accepted, will not meet again until the latter part of October. The matter will be laid before the Council then, and if it would be convenient for him to place the portrait at the Royal Society, then that can be arranged. Hopes this reception is not ungracious, it is just that the walls are so crowded that the Council has to hesitate sometimes in the acceptance of gifts and pictures.
