TitleCopy letter from John Rose Bradford, to The Director General, Army Medical Service
Date27 July 1914
DescriptionWishes to bring to their notice the valuable service which Staff Sergeant A Gibbons has rendered to the Scientific Commission of the Royal Society, despatched to Nyasaland [Malawi] in 1911 at the request of the Colonial Office to conduct an enquiry into trypanosome diseases. The Commission has recently returned to England, and the Director, General Surgeon Sir David Bruce has reported to the Royal Society that Gibbons was unceasing in activity and Bruce cannot express strongly enough his appreciation of his services. Hopes a note will be made of the highly efficient manner in which Gibbons carried out the duties. He also provided valuable assistance to the Commission for the investigation of Sleeping Sickness in Uganda during 1910-11
