TitleCopy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison, to Professor [Arthur] Schuster, Secretary of the Royal Society
Date3 November 1914
DescriptionInserted in the draft letter to the Treasury the changes and references telephoned by Mrs Schuster and has sent a draft to be printed off. Also inserted a few verbal corrections which were necessary and which were marked on the proof. Mrs Schuster did not refer to it, so the phrase on the heavy outlay that will fall on the Royal Society has not been included. His point about the Publication Grant was looked into. Professor Fowler has written asking whether the Society proposes to follow procedure laid doing in 1899 for a joint meeting to receive preliminary accounts of Eclipse obervations.

Dr Silvanus Thompson has sent in a report of the conclusions of the Catalogue Committee as to the efforts to be made to expedite the method of the working of the staff. This is referred to the Emergency Committee, but it is imagined that the Catalogue Committee intended it to be communicated officially to the Director and staff.

Sir David Prain has answered Harrison's letter to him about the India Office, concurring in the idea that the matter should be referred to the Indian Government Advisory Committee. He would like Council to do this.

Has had to fix up the list of biological papers for next week himself, but there is nothing to prevent Schuster adding some physical papers.
