TitleCopy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison, Assistant Secretary of the Royal Society to Sir Edward Thorpe CB, FRS
Date23 November 1914
Description'Replying to your letter of the 21st instant, I find that Professor A Senier's certificate has "ceased to be valid under the five years rules" (Statutes. Chapter I, Section XI). A fresh certificate would therefore be required to renew Professor Senier's candidature, and I shall be glad to send you a blank form, together with a copy of the previous certificate, on hearing the you wish to proposed him for election.
A letter addressed to you here was received and forwarded on to you at Salcombe on Saturday night, and is probably the one to which you refer; it must have crossed yours to me.
The great majority of replies from the Laboratories have been favourable, only four or five declining on the grounds of lack of staff to carry out the work. I enclose a copy of the circular letter herewith.'
