Title | Copy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison, Assistant Secretary of the Royal Society to Captain Henry George Lyons FRS |
Date | 18 May 1915 |
Description | 'The Croonian lecturer for this year has been appointed in the person or persons of Dr W M Fletcher and Dr F G Hopkins, who are asked to lecture on the subject of "Muscle£; but an account of the station of affairs generally & the absence of so many biological people on service, the delivery of the lecture has been postponed until the autumn. I am still awaiting materials for a full agenda paper for the Gassiot Committee. I have issued the summonses for Kew; but it will be awkward both for Dr Schuster and myself if the War Trades Committee holds its usual meeting on that afternoon. You spoke to me some little time ago about the papers of the Royal Society Club, with which I understand the Philosophical Club is incorporated and expressed your readiness to take charge of them. I should be very glad if you could do so just now because I have had to turn two boxes labelled "Philosophical Club" out of the strong room to make space for our more precious manuscripts which we have been placing there for security against bombs.' |
