Dr Dugald Clerk and Prof H B Dixon are both in fabour of publication in the Proceedings, but Prof Dixon says, "There are several references to conclusions drawn in a previous paper which have been withdrawn, e.g pages 8, 12, 14. These references should either be omitted or altered so as to be intelligible without the context of the paper referred to/ IT is not clear why in Fig 1 the curves have a sharp point of inflexion at 5% ethane. No observations are given of the current necessary to fire mixtures containing less than 5% ethane though it is to be presumed that the curves are drawn through other observed points".
