TitleCopy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison, Assistant Secretary of the Royal Society; to [Sir Henry Frank Heath], Secretary of the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research; Great George Street, Westminster, S.W.
Date26 February 1917
DescriptionInforms the Secretary that the application made by the Sir John Cass Technical Institute to the Society, at the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research's suggestion, has been discussed by the Applied Sciences Committee. Informs the Secretary that this Committee has certain reccommendations to make. 1) That the investigation on the adaption of the vapour arc lamp for commercial purposes be paid for by the Government Grant Fund; 2) that the research on the settlement of slimes is an expensive one and the grant asked for would be inadequate for a serious attermpt on the subject, and; 3) that the subject of the effect of low temperature annealing on cold worked metals is one that has been investigated extensively already.
