Description | 'Mr. Harrison directs me to send you the enclosed copy of a cable received last Saturday from the American Foreign Secretary. A copy has also been sent to Professor [Arthur] Schuster.' Enclosed:
'Washington. 3.26a.m. 7th April 1917. Royal Society, London.
The entrance of the United States into the war unites our men of science with yours in a common cause. The National Academy of Sciences acting through the National Research Council which has been designed by President Wilson and the Council of National Defence to mobilise the research facilities of the country would gladly cooperate in any scientific researches still underlying the solution of military or industrial problems.' |
