TitleCopy letter from James Hopwood Jeans, Secretary of the Royal Society; to [Victor Bulwer-Lytton,] the Under Secretary of State for India; India Office
Date12 May 1921
DescriptionWrites on the subject of Mr. Sharp's letter. Notes that Mr. Sharp appears to be under a misunderstanding in his statement that India is expected to contribute six units out of a total contribution of eight units as share of the United Kingdom. Explains that the Society is undertaking to guarantee the whole of the eight units which represent the assessment of the United Kingdom and its Colonies. Further explains that their request for six units from India was in response to the Indian Government's order of thirty sets of the Catalogue.
