| Description | Updates Lord Rayleigh on 2 papers. That James Hopwood Jeans disagrees with [Ernest] Rutherford's review of [Basil Ferdinand Jamieson] Schonland on 'The Passage of Cathods Rays through Matter'' on its arguments. Suggest [Owen Willians] Richardson as a second referee. Also that the 'The measurement of thermal conductivity' by [Ezer] Griffiths and [George William Clarkson] Kaye has now been returned to Glazebrook by the second referee who is favourable to its publication, but makes the same criticisms as the first referee, [Chales Herbert] Lees, that the legth of the paper needs to be reduced. Informs that [Joseph Ernest] Peteval has been written to ask if the Griffiths and Kaye would be willing to make these reductions, which has alreday been done, while meeting the criticisms of the 2 referees. Although the paper is still too long, Jeans states it may be more suitable for publishing in Proceedings than in Transactions and asks if it should be passed under Standing Order 34 for publication. |
