DescriptionInforms Robert John Strutt of 3 papers; 1: 'The band spectrum of hydrogen' by [Stanley] Allen, communicate by [Owen Willans] Richardson. States the [James Hopwood] Jeans have suggested Prof. [John William] Nicholson and [Thomas Ralph] Merton as referees and asks if Strutt agrees. Includes an extract of a covering letter by Richardson stating that although he is sceptical about the results, feels Allen has hit on something. 2: 'On the band-spectra of silicon oxide and chloride, and chlorides of carbon, boron, and aluminium' by W. Jevons and communicated by Prof. Plummer. Suggests [Thomas Ralph] Merton as a referee as a previous paper by the author has been seen by Merton. 3: A second paper 'An automatic and continuous recording balance. (The odén-keen balance)' by [John Reginald Horder] Coutts, [Edward Mortimer] Crowther, [Bernard Augustus] Keen and [Sven] Odén, communicated by Sir John Russell, has been sent in by the Soil Physics Department, before a pervious has been returned by [Frederick Alexander] Lindemann. Also reports on papers that have been returned. That Mr. [William Cecil Dampier] Whetham has reported favourably on the paper 'Activity-measurement by the partition method' by [Bernard] Cavanagh. Includes an extract from the report asking for further clarity. Informs that [Sydney] Chapman has reported favourably on the paper 'The 27-day period (interval) terrestrial magnetic disturbance' by [Aloysius Laurence] Cortie. Includes an extract from both Chapman and Arthur Schuster's reports.
