| Description | In reply to Forman's letter of the previous day, the poem in question occurs in a manuscript volume, number LXXXIII in 'Halliwell's Catalogue'. This volume appears to be principally a commonplace book in one handwriting. The poem 'Upon a lady's fishing with an angle' is not there attributed to Waller or anyone else. Whether it has been assumed to be Waller's because the preceding poem in the volume, 'Upon ye late storm, and death of His Highness ye Ld Protectour, ensuing ye same' is by that poet, Rix cannot say, but he shall be happy to show Forman the volume if he cares to call at the Society. |
