TitleCopy letter from Herbert Rix, to E MacF Patterson, Tower Chambers, Moorgatem E.C.
Date14 February 1894
DescriptionRix responds to his letter of the previous day to state that he has looked through the programmes of the Royal Society's Soirées from 1878 to 1882, and the only exhibits of a phonographic nature are on 1 May 1878, "Phonograph in operation" exhibited by the London Stereoscopic Company; 30 April 1879, "Automatic Phonograph" exhibited by Messrs Preece and Stroh, and "Phonautograph" exhibited by the same.

He does not know the address of J E Greenhill as he is not a Fellow of the Royal Society. Rix notes the possibility that he is confusing the Society with the Royal Institution, Albermarle Street and the instrument in question was exhibited there.
