TitleCopy letter from Herbert Rix, to E G Harmer, 15 Pendennis Road, Streatham
Date8 November 1893
DescriptionRix explains that Sir Joseph Lister has been nominated by the Council to succeed Sir Archibald Geikie as Foreign Secretary to the Royal Society, with the nomination to be submitted on Anniversary Day, 30 November. If Harmer wishes, they can send a weekly printed card of papers to be read at Thursday meetings, which would reach him on the previous Tuesday. Rix notes that there is no other printed matter which they are able to send.

With regard to Anniversary Day itself, Harmer can send a messenger to the Society at 5pm on 30 November, and he will be given a brief statement of formal business, and Rix can write to inform the President that he would like an advance copy of the Anniversary Address, but he cannot promise that he will be able to provide this. As only Fellows are admitted to the meeting, this is all Rix can offer.
