Description | Foster presents his compliments, and in answer to his note of 11 November, asks to explain that the Royal Society's Davy Medal has been awarded to their countryman Mr J H van 't Hoff for his 'notable Chemical Researches'. It is therefore hoped that a diplomatic representative of the Netherlands might be present at the Anniversary Dinner of the Society. Foster hopes that Baron Gwen[?] will honour the Society with his presence on this occasion, and a card of invitation is inclosed to that effect. |
