In answer to your letter addressed to the Secretary, I am instructed to acquaint you with the following facts: - Prof. Tyndall was born in 1820, at Leighlin Bridge, County Carlow, Ireland. For full biolographical notices we may refer you to "Nature", vol. X., page 299 (with portrait), and vol. XLIX., page 128; and "The Times", December 5, 1893. I inclose herewith a cutting from our own List of Fellows, which will give you the date of his election and his titles of honour.
