Description | 'Dear Sir, In answer to yours of the 19th., the London Mathematical Society was placed upon the list of institutions entitled to receive the "Philosophical Transactions" ['Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society'] in 1888. You are entitled to receive the volumes for the past five years, namely, 1889-93, which will be delivered to your messenger upon application. The non-delivery has been occasioned by the fact that you had not made application for the volumes as required by our regulations, but I have the pleasure to inform you that on Thursday last the Council passed a new rule by which, in future years, the volumes will be sent to institutions on our list, without the necessity of such application being made. I am, yours truly, H Rix Asst. Sec. R.S. [Assistant Secretary, Royal Society]'. |
