TitleCopy letter from Herbert Rix, to Professor Michael Foster, Secretary, Royal Society
Date3 July 1894
DescriptionRix states that Dr Risien Russell has returned his manuscript with a declaration that he has carried out Foster's instructions, and so he asks if he may put it in hand. With regard to illustrations, the Treasurer's note is "One plate and process blocks", so Russell has made a selection accordingly. He has selected photos of brains for the process blocks, but Rix reflects that these would not be produced very satisfactorily by ordinary 'process', and although they would cost 30 shillings, there would be the additional expense of drawing.

The Direct Photo Company, as favoured by Joseph Norman Lockyer, would reproduce them by a process similar to the Meisenback at one pound and three shillings per square inch, giving a total of four or five pounds. Rix believes this would give a better result and not make a difference of more than a pound to the total.

In a postscript, Rix asks if anything can be done about Lim Boon Keng's paper, which is still in Professor Charles Smart Roy's hands.
