DescriptionFoster informs Chorlton that the Joule Studentship of the Royal Society Memorial Fund has been awarded to him to enable him to continue with his research on lines laid down by Dr Joule; in particular, to determine the constants of some of the instruments used by Joule, to be placed at his disposal by his representatives.

The value of the studentship is 100 pounds, payable quarterly on the certificate from the authorities of Owens College that the research is being undertaken in a satisfactory manner.
