TitleCopy letter from Herbert Rix, to Sir John Evans, Treasurer, Royal Society
Date18 July 1894
DescriptionRix states that he must have another 10 pounds for small payments before he can wind up the session. He also incloses a cheque for £241-13-4 payment to Kew Committee, for Evans to sign and return.

He inquires whether Evans has seen Horace White's letter about his index, and asks whether he thinks it fair that he intends to charge for the number of references, as he does not. They bargained five pounds for 1000 slips. White claims that Dr Michael Foster gave him leave to charge for the number of references which makes it even more expensive, and Rix believes 1 and a quarter pence a title is already expensive enough. He notes that they have three staff who would happily have done the work for half the money, and twice as well. Mr James would like to have the chance of making a subject index if Evans wishes it.

Rix sends a letter from Miss Calderon, one of Philip Calderon's daughters.
