TitleCopy letter from Herbert Rix, to Sir John Evans, Treasurer, Royal Society
Date20 July 1894
DescriptionRix reports that Lord Rayleigh recommends acceptance of an estimate for Mr Tutton's figures, providing he obtains Evans consent before putting them in hand. He explains that Tutton has removed the photographs, and substituted cuts for plates, which has reduced his estimate to 18 pounds, 18 shillings and six pence, which Rix believes is the most be can be expected to do with regard to reductions.

Clay & Sons have stated that they are looking into the question of a Supplemental Volume, and will send their answer soon.

He also incloses a cheque for 26 pounds, six pounds and six pence in favour of Mr Lovibond, which is the cost price of the slides which were lost. He believes that the money will, sooner or later, be returned to them.
